“Kirkby residents back ‘Beirut’ demolition plan”

Wow! With two “Looks Like Beirut Certificate” responders this week (Mayank & Steven), it is only fitting that we have two new “Looks Like Beirut” cliche-ers: Tony Bank and now UK Journalist Catherine Allen.

Householders have thrown their weight behind plans to demolish houses on Kirkby’s trouble-hit Warwick Close — although some fear anti-social behaviour will continue to plague the area. Ashfield District Council has now applied for planning permission to flatten the rundown area on the Coxmoor estate, which has become a magnet for crime, with some residents dubbing the street ‘Beirut’.

Honestly, with almost every other UK town or city dubbed “Beirut”, don’t you think its about time we just rename the British Isles to Lebanon? Catherine, your LLB certificate will be eventually sent to you once I get back from my trip.
