ITU in BEY

Interesting news for people interested in business and the Internet:

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) will determine its position on network neutrality, one of the most controversial issues in the telecoms industry, in Beirut next month.

The ITU hopes to reach an official decision on the issue of allowing ISPs to set aside faster connections to “paying partners”. I am curious though why Beirut was chosen, the last time I was there the Internet was stone age and the mobile network was archaic.
