No Craigslist in Beirut, I Beg to Differ

You’ll need to watch the video (below) to get the full story but here is the summary:

For the new "Bruno" movie by Sacha Baron Cohen, they wanted Bruno to interview a "terrorist" and not a person playing a terrorist but an actual terrorist. In the end they interviewed someone from the Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade in the West Bank. Now here’s the part that annoyed me. Sasha was telling David Letterman that its actually very hard to find a real terrorist, "there’s no Craigslist in Beirut".

First of all, Beirut has a Craigslist: http://beirut.craigslist.org/. But then here we go again, Beirut the Terrorist Capital of the World. I don’t know about you but I’m getting really sick of this. Would this qualify for a Looks Like Beirut Award?

  Beirut and Lebanon is a terrorist state as long as Hezbollah (in its current form)is represented in the Gov’t, by the Aounists or otherwise.
  
  So don’t go ape shit when people refer to beirut/lebanon in unpleasant even insulting ways.

    SL, gross generalizations are pointless and I, for one, will fight it till the end. For instance, I am now going to make a generalization myself: you are an Armenian (living in Hong Kong) and during the last elections Tashnag formed an alliance with Hezbollah thus making them accomplices to terrorists (continuing from your logic). What did you do about it? You are apparently against such an alliance.
    
    I have vowed to alter the ignorant comments made against my home country regardless of how f#$%ed up the country is. I am not going to wait till we’ve developed a utopia before I start changing opinions.
    
    Angie Nader, that is the exact point I hope to make. There are more dangerous places in the world – I’m sure there are places you probably would never let your 7 year old to get the bus on his own.

  i think its pathetic that as traveled as he is…he’d make such an ignorant comment. i mean wow…..
  when i moved back to lebanon…my son was 7 years old..and was known as the american in the neighborhood ( he didnt even speak arabic back then)…he went out by himself to the net cafe, caught the school bus in front of our cornor market…and he was never kidnapped or harrased…some people find it hard to belive that within itself..the country is really safe.
