“It’s Like Beirut on a Bad Day”
Posted on June 5th, 2009 3 commentsBeirut Bashing is up this week and now we have an evolution of the “Looks Like Beirut” phrase:
A despairing education worker today lifted the lid on what he says is an alarming culture of violence at a Leeds school. The staff member at the Roundhay-based Elmete Special Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) told the Yorkshire Evening Post he faces almost daily assaults by pupils.
…
He said: “It is really bad – like Beirut on a bad day.Unfortunately, the person who made the statement wished to remain anonymous and therefore I will not be able to send him my very own certificate, that’s not going to stop me on my quest to stamp out the irritating cliche.

Well, Beirut has had some pretty bad days in the past. I can see how it’s unfair to compare it to Beirut during peace time, but correct me if I’m wrong, during war times, there are areas in Beirut where it’s no fun at all to be.

I think they’re also stuck in the 80′s. If they had any sense, they’d call it a bad day in Gaza. Actually, a good day in Gaza would be pretty bad too.
