Now you can have a piece of “Beirut” in Rowley Regis, UK:
The transformation of a flattened estate once labeled the “Beirut of Sandwell” is moving closer, with the land set to be handed over to developers.
The sale of derelict land on the Brickhouse estate in Rowley Regis is now being finalised and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
So because its a derelict site, its automatically characterized as Beirut? Clearly this week’s “Looks Like Beirut Award” goes to Sandwell in the UK.

Good series, I get so annoyed with the use of ‘Beirut’ for everything! Also makes me wonder what the Parisians think of hearing Beirut called ‘the Paris of the Middle East’ over and over again…
